The Hero's Journey
His lineage can be traced back to 1245AD when Roger de Lauria was born in Valencia, Kingdom of Sicily in Italy.
When he was only 24, King Peter III of Aragon, Knighted de Lauria and placed him in command of the fleet of the Crown of Aragon during the War of the Sicilian Vespers. It is said he was amongst the most successful and talented tacticians of the medieval period winning each naval battle he commanded. A most notable battle was when he was victorious in the “Battle of the Counts” near Naples despite being outnumbered forty ships to eighty. He also brought peace to Sicily and inspired Men to follow him.
